I am finding it difficult to get mine to run in Landscape. When I put my XDA IIs into lanscape and run TTN5 all I get is a screen that is same width as portrait mode but half the height and any additional space on the screen is left blank. I can't find a menu option that allows me to run in Landscape mode from within TTN5s.
Can anyone tell me how I can post a screen shot to demonstrate this? |

Don't use the landcape mode facility on your PDA. Instead go into TT5 Preferences and on about the 5th menu page you will see an icon called Rotate Screen. Each tap on this rotates the screen 90 degrees. Depending on which way round your mount is, you will have to tap the icon 1 or 3 times

If you read this thread it might help. You'll need to go down several posts. _________________ Richard

I've ordered the TT5 upgrade but having read this thread I don't think I will use it when it arrives. I have been really pleased with TT3 and thought TT5 would bring me more up to date maps (-not that the TT3 maps have ever given me any problems) |

Robin | Thanks for that, I tried what you said and noticed that my menus didn't give me a preferences option, no matter how hard I looked, so I thought I'd check what version I had running and I was still running TTN3 and not TTN5 as expected. Not sure what happened here, but I installed TTN5 ok, installed maps from CD 1 ok then when I started TTN5 I got the registration all as expected. So I registered the software and activated but somehow it just reactivated my TTN3 and not TTN5. When I realised what had happened I tried to re-instal TTN5 after doing a cold restart of my XDA IIs then installing TTN5 from fresh but now I can't activate this as my device code comes up different to the previous install I had from before. I've sent an e-mail to Tomtom support but no reply as yet, they must be busy with other ppls problems right now. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this. |

I dont really use a huge amount of advanced features so I really liked TT5, the postcode feature (when I got it working) was much much better for getting to my clients sites, I like the fact it now uses my VGA screen and has the road names and stuff being displayed, and I like the smoother scrolling.
What kills it for me is the fact that I have to turn OFF the VGA mode because of a memory leak bug that inevitably crashes it when I need it most and the fact that the maps are still so out of date! It is the 2005 bloomin edition, it should have maps that are up to date for 2005!
I have also had a look at some of the european maps and they dont look overly detailed (at least france didnt when I was having a look). |

Are you looking at the actual map of France or just the MRE for France. I have not loaded TT5 French maps yet but I found the TT3 France map excellent.

I agree with all that's been said . TTN 5 should never have been released. I have gone back to 3 and have made my feelings known to Tom Tom who as usual have ignored me :x |
