I guess that TomTom are busy right now, but there is no excuse for this.

I sent them a 'question' about a feature which is subtly different than it was in TT4.4. I think that it was writen in a way which was sympathetic to their current workload:

I am sure that you are being hammered at the moment by PPC users who have features missing since their upgrade to V5.

But since V5 is based on the last Palm version, I doubt if you have had as many complaints from Palm users.

Well, there is a feature missing and I don't belive that it was deliberate, so wonder if you would pass this mail onto your Software Developers.

In version 4, when you hit the bottom right of the screen, you got a route overview. At the bottom you had 3 buttons:

Route - Which took you to a text description of the route
Map - Which took you to the map browser
Done - Which took you back to the navigation view.

In version 5, its slightly different.. When you hit the bottom right of the screen, you still get the route overview. But now there are only TWO buttons

Route - Which takes you to the route menu
Done - Which takes you back

There is no 'map' button, even though there is a space for it.

This is a bit annoying as I have been used to using this 'map' button to get to the map and keep forgetting that its no longer there.

As I said, I can't see any reason why this was removed, so wonder if your developers might think of putting it back in.

Imaging my surprise when they replied this morning stating that I could fix this myself..

Their reply stated:

Dear Mr Weaver,

http://www.tomtom.com/3239

This website will explain how to overcome this error.

With best regards,

The TomTom Customer Support Team

I excitedly followed this URL and discovered that it has nothing to do with my problem as this question concers the "Free Temp Space" problem which a lot of people seem to be having.

They may as well have writen "Dear sir, we are too busy to look at your questions right now, but since most of our questions at the moment are from people with a "Free Temp Space" problem, we are assuming taht this is what your question is about".

My problem is VERY minor and I just wanted them to know about it incase they wanted to fix it.. But if this is the way that they are treating ALL of our questions, then there is no hope that anything will get fixed!

If you tap the Route button you will get a page of icons, including View Route as Map.

I know that, but that only applies to when there is a route active.

On the old Palm version (which is what TT5 is based on), the "Status Sumary" screen (the one you get when you hit the bottom right of the screen), used to have a 'Map' button.

And it made sence.. There is still a space where it used to be.

If you are a PPC user, then you won't have a clue what I am talking about.. But since TT5 is almost identical to the old Palm version, this feature is clearly missing and there doesn't appear to be a reason!

Mate, I had been in contact with tomtom customer services recently and I seemed to be getting generic replies, going as far as repeating themselfs after a lengthy reply from myself with new information provided. Its definately one thing that lets them down thats for sure.
