I have used TomTom daily since V2 and then and now, since upgrading to TT5, I cannot use it at all. I am self employed and use the software for my daily business travel and so please :-( HELP!!!!!!!

I have tried everything to get TT5 working with my Rikeline 6010. I had a perfectly functioning TT3 set up and so all components are working perfectly. Yesterday great ... today since new install can't see the GPS mouse!

I have now EVEN hard reset my device and emptied the SD Card and then installed NOTHING but TT5 but still it will not recognise my GPS wired unit. All that is now on the PDA is Windows and TT5!

I have tried all the configuration options and all identical result ... gps not found! I need to know why one of the most common GPS units is not being recognised and what EXACTLY the solution is.

Thanks

Dave

use the Rikaline config tool to make sure the receiver is set to NMEA at 4800. Then in TTN5 you should be able to specify "other cable GPS".

It won't work any more if you have the receiver set to SiRF mode. (It did still work in TTN3)

Thanks for the rapid response. Sounds spot on :-)

I have done a Google search and can't find reference to that tool. Where do I download and how do I use it? All I got with my GPS unit was the connection cable and the unit itself.

Hi Ya

Download GPStweak from the following link and install on the PPC

This will allow you to change the settings you wish

http://sirftweak.networktroubles.org/gpstweak.php

I also have a 6010 on TT5 running on a Dell x5 , the only problem i had is that running it on the other cable NMEA GPS setting caused tomtom to think i was ahead of my real location by 200 yards or so.

I now have it running under TomTom Cable GPS and all is well

Hope this helps

Regards

Fergy

Yes, that's great. I'll try it out. The 200m problem will be a real pain if it also appears on my set up Sad I'll end up missing loads of turnings!!!

So, I guess you went out and bought the official TomTom GPS. MAybe I'll have to do the same ... more cash!

no, he didn't do that. He just used the "TomTom cable GPS" setting. No need to buy another receiver.

Thank you so much ... both of you.

Really valuable advice. I have downloaded and installed the utility and tomorrow I will try the reconfigured GPS in the car.

Fingers crossed Smile

Ok folks ... downloaded GPStweak but no installer with it: just three files and no instructions where they go and so I did a search on Google again and found an article on this very web site about checking your GPS using an application called Winfast Navigator ... also available by download from this site. Easy install and looks good.

So sat in the car (boy, it's a hot day!!) and no problem establishing a connection to the GPS unit and configuring it to run NMEA on Serial COM 1 and at 4800 and all working great in Winfast Navigator.

Load up TT5 and nothing ... try various COM ports and baud speed options and so on. Nothing still.

Anyway, I'm en-route now to Longleat for a photo session and lunch-time is upon us, so pop into a local pub for a Ploughmans! Turn off the PDA and stick it in my pocket. Take in the various configuration instructions I downloaded and read through several times to see if I've missed something. I haven't! Feeling a bit GLUM!

Pop out to the car again to set off and plug it all in and BINGO everything is working straight off. All I did was turn the machine off and unplug everything and then start it up again. Change over to the TomTom wired GPS option and off I go. The arrow follows the road within maybe 1m. Very accurate and all is fast and working dandy.

A problem I had with the screen only showing a blue/grey map is also gone and clearly that seems to be associated with no GPS signal. As soon as a signal found then the map reverts to its normal colour scheme.

I like it better than TT3 and want to say THANKS for guiding me in the right direction - that's unintended humour Laughing Laughing

Glad to hear all is ok

The Blue/Grey screen is displayed when no gps lock is available

Have fun

Also lots of people are saying they are having problems with the speed camera data base , making their display jerk and not run smothly

I have installed it but resized the BMP to 80% using Paint shop pro
all seems to be ok and all runs smothly

Happy navigation

Luckily all my POI's are functioning fine. Maybe it's a memory issue.

I just sorted the full postcode problem too so I am even happier Laughing

The old TomTom directory missing one

Have a look at this ... You can now create your own menus

Just create a directory call SDKRegistry in TomTom on the PPC and copy the TomTom.mnu file to the directory , re boot tt and Hey presto you very own menu's

http://www.skux.net/tomtom/menubuilder/index.php

Don't forget to click on the union jack otherwise it's a little confusing

i kinda have the same problem Crying or Very sad

my stepdad gave me his old toshiba e740 with a brodit active holder linked to a rekaline 6010 gps... everything was working fine when he used it before

then i tried...

i installed tomtom5 without any problem.

then i plugged the pda into the holder in the car and it wouldn't work cos he couldn't find the usb driver... i searched for hours and hours (cos i don't have the installation cd) and finally got to install driver from holux which apparently are fine as well.

then i started again and it worked BUT tomtom couldn't find any gps even with the good port set and the good speed (4800)...

i installed Winfast Navigator but it can't connect Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

the light on the gps stays green...

is there something more i should do ?

can you help me out ?

tx a lot !

i'm falling appart here Confused
