|
|
I currently use TT3 on my ipaq and have created abouit a dozen or so POIs of my own. I also use quite a few general POIs downloaded from Pocket GPS World including the Camera database, and CheckPOInt 2.02 which are stored on a 256 MB SD card. I would like to upgrade to TT5 but need some advice please:
a) how do I delete TT3 from my PPC/PC without losing my own self created POIs and the other general ones I have already?
b) will my "TT3" POIs still work with TT5?
c) will my 256 Mb SD card be big enough to store TT5? I only have 116 Mb remaining (made up of my own POIs, GB maps. Post Code Finder and Sound folders). I know I will need to need to delete the GB maps, Post Code Finder and Sound Folder if I upgrade to TT5 but will there still be enough space on my storage card?
Will some kind soul advise please?

a. Back them up and then un-install tomtom and the map
b. yes (restore them from the backup into the map folder on the SD card)
c. the maps are slightly larger, buut as you will be deleting them, you have enough space. (I think!) _________________ iPhone5, TomTom, Google maps, Navfree, Viewranger and Apple Maps (ekk) |

Hi,
If I remember rightly the UK maps were 207mb in total, and I re-installed the POIs back into the same directory after I backed them up! So a 256mb card should be just about enough I think, one thing though CheckPoint won't work properly with TT5, on their website they it won't work until the program has been updated.

Be aware there is also a limit of 40 third party POI categories in TTN5, not 99 as in TTN3. _________________ Richard

They do work. I'm still using a POI of Caravan Club sites which I saved from an old TT2 installation, and it works fine in TT5
Regarding the upper limit on the number of POI categories, I have already used up quite a few when I imported the speed camera database, eg 20mph Gatso, 30mph Gatso etc. Can I reduce the number by putting them all in a single folder inside the map directory entitled Gatso? I don't remember them showing up as individual categories in TT3
