Wow SimonB,

That was an instant answer.

My iPAQ 3970 is as supplied with Kane Car Pilot Lux two years ago. it mounts in a jacket holding a CompactFlash card and the GPS receiver is made by EMTAC.

Ok, if I remember right - that might have been a similar jacket to the NavMan one.

Best thing to do, is install the software and see how it goes. If it doesn't work then you might need the amended version. If you do e-mail the author of the program - and he should e-mail it to you. (He's extremely helpful).

I do believe there is going to be an updated version which allows user-selectable baud rates to over come the issue.

Thanks

Gyro, I would be interested to know if the application works with the Emtac as I had one person test it out with no luck (it was several months back though). As SimonB says you need the ARM version. The instalelr is the easiest to use. The MIPS version is only for older Casio devices, most Pocket PC's (since 2002) should use an ARM/Xscale processor.

SimonB, thanks for answering Gyro's query. The new version is ready but I am doing a bit more testing. If youre keen to try it out I can email you a copy.

The_Borg, I will see what I can do regarding the OS grid reference.

tcs17_tim, I will see what I can do about some 0-60/0-100 stats

Regards
Trevor

Have installed GPS Speed Sentry on my 3970. Display says "No GPS fix"
"Data Valid = No" "Satellites in View = 0"

Have checked that Emtac is speaking to iPAQ (using satnav programme).

Unfortunatly today is day out (Chelsea Flower Show) so can't do anything before Wednesday 25th.

Gyro

Normally this is caused by not having all of the NMEA sentences enabled on your GPS.

Is the UTC time updating or is it set at 00:00:00? If its updating then we have communication with the GPS. If not then you may have the wrong port/baud rate.

Next thing to check is whether you are recieveing any other info eg number of sats, elevation etc. If you are then you you probably have GSA and GGA enabled.

If the position, speed etc is not updating then you need to enable the RMC sentence. This is different depeniding on GPS model.

Hope that helps

Trevor

Hi jond,

The ARM version is actually ARM/Xscale so Xscale is already supported Smile

hi

can anyone tell me if it is possible to get this software to start automatically when i start tomtom. similar to the way checkpoint automatically runs tomtom when you start it?

ideally i would like to run this program which would automatically start checkpoint which then automatically starts tomtom.

thanks donster22
