Stay away from these 2 and who knows maybe other Hollux gps devices. They will not stay paired to a PC if you shut the device off!! Thats right, power down the hollux and you have to repair. Even worse you first have to delete the bluetooth profile for it and re-add it EVERYTIME YOU SHUT THE HOLLUX OFF!! its horrible.
Also, if you send them extra money for the "Serial Cable" it doesnt work unless you are also paired to some device via bluetooth. the thing is so stupid it doesnt realize its being used so it shuts itself off!??!
I've tried this on using 3 laptops, a desktop, 3 bluetooth drivers (SP2 and Widcomm v3 and v4)
get something else before you consider either of these. |

I just tried and yes, the pairing is lost when you shut the GPS off (GR-231). I don't have to re-add any profile though, just re-pair and it's up and running again. |

I can only say as I see, but I have never had to re-pair my Holux GR231 yet. I have XDAII with copilot5 software. I just switch on the Holux and put it on the dash then start Copilot and by the time I've got round to putting the address in it's fixed, connected, and ready to go. Sometimes it delays a bit before it gives me my first instruction but it's only telling me how to get to the first major road anyway and after 20 years I think I know that. I've no doubt you guys have had some problems but I don't know whether it's fair to tell everyone to stay away from Holux. If I can relay any of my settings to you just ask.

My GR-231 works great with my Qtek S100, but this thread was about Windows (XP). |

New firmware could solve the problem. |

Maybe so, but I can't find a new one. Do you know if it exists? |
