Hello,
I like to use TTN whenever I drive even without entering a destination (some times I actually know where I'm going) so I can be warned of any speed cameras.
The trouble is it remembers the last destination I entered and constantly tries to direct me to go there. I don't want to have to keep entering a new destination where ever I go.
How do I get rid of the last destination and use the TTN 3 without a route planed? That must be possible, surly

| In TT3 there is an option in the menus for "Turn Guidance Off" or similar. Choose that and it will stop directing you. |

In map view, select Tools, then Clear Route. Usually works for me.

Just remember 1 thing, DON'T READ THE MANUAL. That's only done when all else fails. Both the abouve work but I prefer the clear route option. BUT will this work in TTN5, watch this space for details (someone out there MUST have a 'proper' upgrade version by now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who needs the upgrade version when you've got the retail version? :P
Yes, hitting 'Clear Route' does exactly what it says on the can, and you can drive along and it will tell you where you are and where you're headed, just as if you were following a route. |

I tend to use the "turn Gudence off" feature which is easily reached in Navigator mode by touching the screen, then the right arrow twice and then the turn guidence off icon in the top left corner of the screen.
The added bonus of doing it this way means that although the route isn't shown on the screen, the Navigator screen will show you where you are right now and if you turn the guidence back on Tom Tom remembers tha last destination and recalculates the route to it.
I find that feature handy when I start going to the destination and then get diverted (normally by the Misses  ) to another place that I know how to get to, so I turn the guidence off and when I want to resume my journey to the original destination I turn the guidence back on. Saves having to renter the destination.

You can make this feature more readily available by placing it on the first available Navigator screen : if you go to Navigator menu :Main ..in the Advanced properties and swop it for one that you don't need as much.

Not in TT5 you can't - the menus are fixed. |

You'll not be able to with TTN5, customised menus are GONE (as are customised road speeds).

It really is bewildering to me why Tom Tom would remove useful features, like the ability to customize menus, when producing a new (and supposedly better) version of their software. Why take features away!!?
I read somewhere that the feature was removed after consultation with customers (or something like that). I dont believe that for a moment! The ability to customize menus was never something that caused a problem. If you dont want to change anything then just leave it alone. Those who do want to, can.
Moving the 'exit' button to the first page was one of the first things I did. Why it wasn't on the first page in the first place seems strange anyway. Do the people at Tom Tom actually think about what they are doing!!? Maybe common sense isn't a big thing over there.
Anyway, I only recently got TTN3 and I shall stick with it until TTN5 sorts it self out (wish I could use TTN3 in landscape mode though).
