Well Version 5 is now with the GO users, it is still gaining in functionality for the New GO500 and GO700 devices, but it is essentially there.

OK guys over to you. What would you like to see in the next release of the software...

Some way of controlling the sensitivity of route selection to shortest/quickest. Usually I dont especially want either of those, I want 'sensible'. It seems to be happy to route you 20 miles out of your way to save 5 minutes, or let you take an extra hour to save 1/2 mile. I'd like some way of controlling this, so it will go a little bit further than 'shortest route', but save significant time, and the same for the time/distance trade-off. Its too black and white at the moment IMHO.

A brighter screen.

I was in a friends car the other day and was impressed by his portable sat navs treatment for exits from roundabouts.

It was something like "take the third exit and follow the A21 for 4 miles". This was much more helpful than the Tom Tom's

I'd like to see the ability to configure the various settings within the TomTom Go being possible via the PC as well as via the device itself.

Seeing as it's already connected via USB for updates etc., it wouldn't take much to provide a front end for editing POI's etc. This would be very useful for tasks such as assigning the different sounds (spoken etc.) to the various speed camera POI's as their titles can be too long for the TTG's screen and it can be a fiddly process.

Maybe some clever person has already created such software, but I haven't seen it!

1. A quick push of a button (or two) way to add a new POI whilst on the move - so many options to go through currently that you are well past the POI eg new speed camera before you have added it.

2.Don't know much about ASN but I understand the GO has some sort of accelerometer circuitry relatiing to this. It would be great fun for us petrol heads if this could be used to give some sort of read out of acceleration, braking forces and cornering g-force etc. Such as the kind of telemetry you get in Nissan Skyline etc. :D Would be a good laugh on track days etc even if it was not super accurate.

Also agree with suggestion of more info, as to which road you're about to turn on to... EG take the M3 motorway, or Turn left onto A30

You can do it to some extent now. The .itn files are text files. If you create one, copy to PC and open in text editor, you'll get the drift.

How so? The medium it's stored on has absolutely no influence on how up to date (or not) the mapping data is! If it's out of dazte, it's out of date, whether it's on SD, CD, DVD or beamed in via satellite connection from Mars! Wink

Not gonna happen - that's good marketing for TomTom! Laughing

You can rename the speed camera files before copying them to TTG. Give them a smaller name then it will fit on the screen and be much easier. Make sure you also give the .bmp file the same name.

Technically that would be difficult, as each section of road has to have a Start and Finish Point, a Speed Factor, a Road Type, and full instructions encoded into it for all possible manoeuvres (left, right, straight on, etc.) at each end.
