As many of you will know, TomTom 3 has a habit of locking the GPS port so that other GPS software (such as MemoryMap) will not work (even when TomTom itself isn't running). The workaround is to downgrade the TT GPS driver to an older version, 2.07, that doesn't lock the port.
Is this still necessary with TT5, and if so, is the 2.07 driver still compatible? I don't want to upgrade if it means losing the ability to run MemoryMap. |

I think this was solved with gps version 3.07 .
I have used mapopolis and tomtom on my ppc with gps working without issues recently.
Can anyone confirm?

I think it worked for some PDA's and not others. 3.07 didn't fix it on my HP Ipaq 4160. |

The 'fix' for TTN 3 is availible from Franson.com called GPSgate. It sets a virtual com port for use by Memory Map. Works great with Mio 168. A number of versions are availible for other combinations.
I have read that TTN5 frees the com port up on exit. Hope it does or I'll have to see if Franson has a new version of GPSgate.

I was told by "The Font of all knowledge (Lutz)" that this is no longer a problem with TTN 5[/quote] _________________ Steve I |
