The following is no longer a problem. However, I would like to know if anyone else has had this problem?

Firstly, I have a Dell Axim (ROM A03). I also have TTN2 (2.02). Installed perfectly on the Axim. Installed the entire GB Map on my 128 SD Card.

When I'd go and "Navigate to" and then Search, if I was to type anymore than two letters in the City field then the system would hang and TTN2 would eventually quit.

It was fine if I used two letters and scrolled down.

I decided to try and solve the problem myself. I uninstalled TTN2 and reinstalled without using the lastest patch. I did NOT uninstall the Maps on the SD. The same problem existed. I then thought it would be the maps.

I used some software to format the SD card. Reinstalled the maps and all seemed to be okay, however, it was very slow. I then reformatted the SD card using FAT32 and a higher cluster size (as the map files are quite large). Put the maps back on and now it is faster but 2.02 does slow things down.

Anyone have this before? I'm wondering if it will happen again?

Boyd.

General question which is relevant to this thread - What would be the "ideal" cluster size etc. using a 128 SD card purely for TTN2 GB map & POIs etc. Had anyone experimented?

Boyd,

Good to see you followed my advice. I'm sure you'll be a regular now you're here.

I had problems on my HP568 with accessing the MMC card in the add-on battery (one of the reasons I now have an Axim), and followed some advice here and formatted using a 16k cluster size.

This helped a bit, but not enough on the 568. But, TT2.02 is running well and fast using this same MMC card in the SD slot of the Axim

Good point pello! What would be the ideal size? If it works don't fix it? I'll leave as is for the time being Smile

Hi nicknick. I'll sure be a regular here, thanks for the direction! At the moment TomTom 2 is working great. I wish it had a few more options like avoiding certian routes or roads before it calculates the route. I know you can avoid roads whilst on the go. TTN2 loves to take me along the A5 when travelling into London, when I know the A41 is quicker! Laughing Out Loud That being said, it still is very good, I'm hoping that I won't have the hanging problem anymore Smile

Cheers for your help, Boyd.

Boyd,

You can use the 'avoid area' feature, and designate a section of the A5 as an 'avoid' which will force TT away from it (if you choose the area appropriately).

However, these can't be added/removed on the fly easily so 'rerouting' will also avoid that section of the A5.

Nick

I had this problem, it just stopped working and hanging.

Tried your suggestion, formatting the SD card as Fat32 with 16K...seems to work fine.

You would think that TomTom would have something in their very scant manual or at least on their website.

Again, thanks for your help.
