Satalite connection time.

Hi,

My Pharos GPS has suddenly started taking about 5-10 minutes to get a signal. Would there be a reason for this as I have never had a problem before.

The little backup battery may have died, forcing the receiver to re-load the base data every time it's switched on basically a cold start). If that's the case then there's not much you can do - those batteries are not replaceable.

Thanks for the reply.

It does seem to have slowed down since the GPS has been connected to the CF slot rather than working from the battery in the GPS device via the bluetooth connection, could that be it??????

The GPS has a built in battery, but when you connect it to the CF slot you remove the battery, could that be the problem????

No, that's a different battery. I am talking about the tiny backup battery on the PCB of each receiver. Pretty much like the battery that keeps your computer's clock and BIOS configuration when the computer is switched off. It's not related to the main battery of the BT sleeve.

Check you have the correct time set.... It needs to know where those sats are after all and if you have the wrong time it thinks they are somewhere else! :D

not entirely. The receiver needs the exact time, but it should get that from the sats also after a while.

In AGPS the time comes from the cellular network. Since it travels a shorter distance it's supposed to be more accurate.
