Sorry but I dont think TomTom would be too pleased if we did that. We might also have a problem with the performance of our server as well, we seem to be hitting peaks every now and again.

Nothing exciting but just noticed when the tom tom is connected by the usb cable, the warning picture has changed. it now shows a big red cross over a hand pulling the cable and please wait flashes on screen while reading or writing to the tom tom.

Anyone updated to V5.1 and still found their TTG300 postcode files still work?
I am not going to update, they may have fiddled with it to stop the postcodes working on the old maps plus the only update (apart from the graphic when connected to USB) is a new calculation of the times.

Pardon me if i'm being silly but there is no calculation in the world that will accurately estimate the time it takes to drive from one place to another. TTG doesn't know about traffic lights, doesn't take into consideration rush hour and calculates it as if you were doing the speed limit all the way there.
I go with the traffic flow, if its fast its fast, if its slow its slow but its never the speed limit for that road.

Either I'm pretty dumb or.......

When I read the upgrade info from Mike B, I thought he meant the time taken to calculate a route was reduced by 20%, not the actual time taken to drive from one place to another.

Oh right, it doesn't take that long anyway unless you have programmed a route for the entire Gumball rally.

I went to Nottingham today, TTG said 2 hours 31 minutes and that includes all the 75s in 70s areas etc that TTG seems to do. I did it in 1 hour 45. Way out.

That is correct.

The estimated time of arrival, when using M/Ways and Dual Carriageways, is based on 67mph approx. Don't ask me why, I found it accidentally on a long trip that if I kept to that speed the ETA remained the same.

A lot depends on the speed rating, for each section of the road, that TomTom uses.

Weirdly it seems to have slowed my own driving down - I guessed it was around the 70 mph mark, so as long as I know the arrival is based on that I tend to be quite happy driving at that - weird but true for me Smile
