Am I wrong -- but I thought that the warnings were given as a product of car speed and distance..

I know that the faster you travel the more distance the warnings are and vice versa???

I do prefer the old voice prompts, because, idiosyncratic or not, you just get used to a particular turn of phrase after you've been using the unit a bit. I'll give the "new" dialect a bit more time before I decide for sure. Perhaps TomTom could highlight changes to the voice engine with future updates or give us the option of using the older style voice prompts to avoid catching people out with further updates. Overall, I find that mounting the display high on the dash so i can glance at it easily in the same way that I would the speedo suits me more than the voice prompts. I may give the "silent" voice a spin so the only noises I get are the safety camera alarms.

Fibre:- You are correct the faster you go the longer distance warnings you get, but it isn't dependant on the road type. What I am thinking is:-
30mph on a B road say 50 yard warning
70mph on a B road (heaven help us but you know what I am getting at) 250yards warning
30mph on a M road (again example only please) 250 yards warning
70mph on an M road 400 yards etc etc
So it’s using the speed and combining it with the road type
A step too far perhaps ?
What do you think ?
