Hi,
I've just put in a pre-order for a new TOM TOM GO 300. Can someone please tell me how long the car power cord is (I'm assuming it's the same cord that comes with the "Classic"), as I have a 12V socket behind the centre-console in my car (2002 Vectra) and I'm wondering if it will be long enough to reach the right hand side of the windscreen.
Thanks

It's about a metre long. I have to coil some up to keep it tidy.

oh dear - I need roughly 3 meters to wire it up to my scenic. Does anyone know of a suitable replacement lead for sale (getting the GO 700)

Oisky - remember that the power lead also reduces the 12v down to 5v. Using components from places such as Maplins etc you could make up an extension lead perhaps.

You can buy a "cig lighter to cig lighter" extension lead in lots of car and electrical places. I have one that winds into a plastic box when you turn the handle on the outside 8) Embarassed

Or one like this:

I am in the process of installing a new socket to the right of my steering wheel in my Celica as I have the TTG on the screen to the right of the steering wheel.

I did not like to see a cable draped across the dash, very untidy.

Also more of a pain, with the power lead in the socket I could not get into reverse without taking the lead out first....

I've got the same prob. I have a Toyota Prius and no DC outlet at the front of the car, only in the central arm rest. So me thinkis I need a in-line jack to jack extension. Anyone know the size/spec of the TTGo's jack requirement so I can get some from Maplins or CPC and make a lead up?

Why not splice an extra length of wire into the middle of the existing power cable? You can use any connectors you like then!

Yep, that would do nicely, but I thought I'd try and keep the original bits of the kit in tacked just in case I decide to sell it all on in the near future.

I think so am am told you DONT want to splice into your existing cable as you may overload the circuit.

What I did was the easy option. I disconnected the power to my existing socket and fed it to a new one nearer my TTG.

I left the original in place for show.

I am yet to use a cigarette lighter in my car as I dont smoke and no will in my car:)
