Mapsonic 3.0 Big Problems!

I also got an email regarding the 3.0 upgrade.
I downloaded it and installed it. The mapsonic application on my Palm Zire72 does not work. "Fatal exception", Want's to reset all the time.
Tried deleted the bluetooth cache, didn't help.

The Mapstore application does not work at all. "Microsoft has encountered a problem", Send or Don't Send.

To sum it up. Nothing worked!!

Now I am back to 2.5 (as I had the same problem with their 2.5.x upgrade)

Strange, it worked fine for me (which isn't helpful, I know).

To ask the obvious, are you sure you unzipped it into the correct folder on your PC - it sounds like the programs are missing elements or are trying to use a mix of versions.

Unzipped? It is en executable file that packs itself up and installs in the old 2.5 directory.

Tomorrow I will try to install the 3.0 on my Tungsten T3.
Even if I make a hard reset on my Zire 72 and reinstall 2.5, then 3.0 it does not work.

Why doesn't the mapstore app on the PC work? I cannot delete anything in the directory becuase 3.0 searches the PC for previous 2.5 installations.

Has anyone else had this same problem, if so was there a workaround?

www.globalpositoningsystems.co.uk is not accepting a return (I suspect I have a faulty CD), so I'm basically stuffed !! Crying or Very sad

Any help would be most appreciated..

Apologies if you have tried these already but:
Have you tried copying the CD to another blank disk or four? You might just need to copy the one that is just spinning in the drive.
Or can you copy the CDs onto your hard drive and load it from there?
Can you install another CD drive in case it is just an incompatability between disk and drive?
Failing that it you are going to have to get the retailer or ViaMichelin to replace the CDs.

What could it be in windows that causes my 3.0 upgrade to go completely nuts? Could it be some other program that is installed ?

With 2.5 there were never a MFC installation built-in. I think it's some common file that is corrupt to viamichelin.

I guess the best way to find out is to install on a completely different computer.

When I upgraded to v3 from v2.5, the first time I used the program it locked my T3. Impossible to reset, and I had to let the battery drain down then recharge and install everything again. All applications had to be resinstalled, not simply viamichelin. Not impressed.

I suspect the problem is to do with trying to run v3 against a map file that was created under v2.5 (which is what I'd done on my first attempt)
I had upgraded again, but this time I have re-cut my map files, after the upgrade. It works a treat now.

My problems begin at the "desktop level". The mapsonic program doesn't even start. It causes errors like the usual when something hangs.

Contact Microsoft, Two buttons, send or don't send.
