I have found that if I left my N35 for a month the battery was completely dead it lost everything as well 
I'm not sure if this is anything to do with TomTom just the PDA itself.

Some times it switches TTN off within a few seconds of TTN being activated. Other times, it can have been running for many minutes maybe even an hour so befopre it decides to call it a day.
