Size doesn't matter but a fast card will help. There are several threads covering SD cards for TTN3 and same cards should work fine with TTN5

I'm running version 5 (not 5.1) as I haven't bothered upgrading. Try running version 5 to see if it is stable for you (that will rule out hardware problems)

I use the postcode program from Jose Adell. It works with TT5 and I find it excellent. Not free but very reasonably priced.
