No, it says "No GPS Device" when it isn't communicating with the receiver. It says "GPS Signal lost xx seconds ago" when it has no signal

Thats probably why he is looking for Hospital POIs.

I think it is too early to say whether TT5 has big holes in the POI database, I for one probably wouldn't notice as apart from using it for car ...

Also don't forget this patch http://www.pocketpc-club.nl./content.php?id=3441 which forces the com port to com8 instead of com5 so that TomTom 3 and other apps can use it.
