On the recommendation of Tomtom I bought their GO6100 because they confirmed it would:

I saw this app and was wondering if it was any good. Would I be able to load speed camera and POIs? Will it allow text to speach, like the actual sat nav units so it will give verbal warnings, etc. |

They only work when I am navigating to somewhere.If you want to hear them at all times, the option is the last one in the Warn When Near Setup Menus.
Un-tick Warn only if POI is on Route.;)
