But I had already removed the SD card, as well as removed all .gpx files.
Next I used POIloader (as described above) to remove all custom POIs.
Yet they are still in ...

I've tried everything to erase the custom POIs on my Nüvi 760, to no avail:

1* removed the external memory card
2* deleted file poi.poi from the \Garmin directory
3* used poiloader to erase all ...

I recently updated the software to 3.1 using the WebUpdater tool.
The unit now boots faster so that is nice.

But it also started to freeze during driving, and that is not so nice!

this happened with me as well on my first trip.
But then I did a 'factory reset' and it started using highways.

Try it !

Usually in POI.GPI. Have you tried the remove all exisiting POIs option in POILoader? yes that is what I did first of all.

Also do you have any other GPI files? There is a trick where you can keep ...

I used Poiloader to remove all custom PoIs from my Nüvi 760.
the file poi.gpi on the device is still there, but at size 0 bytes.

... if you have a bus only road then it won't route you down there unless you are in a bus. It also changes the routing to favour major roads slightly more if you select truck
