Thanks guys, but the solution re magnets is a no go as the phone stays in the cradle all the time....
The auto Boy Dash Cam does switch on and off with usb connect / disconnect or just charging on / ... |

I dont understand what a car dock does to the phone oter than powering it and off, and possibly some connecting to an external aerial.....
I would have thought that power being on or off, ie chargin ... |
