People who are using a unit all the time ...

I am sure using NVRAM only cos ...

If I knew that the backup on a new unit lasted say 2 weeks then I would buy that rather than ...

No, I am not talking about the battery in bluetooth units, but the backup battery for the memory in wired units.

I would like to know how long the unit or the car can be left unused before the batt ...

Most GPS mice seem to have an internal backup battery to keep the volatile memory alive. When the battery runs down the unit has to do a factory reset next time it is turned on which can take a few m ...

This is the same problem that I have with my Haicom. Works perfectly when its new, then after a while takes ages to get a fix.

I assume it is a problem with the backup battery, but they are not re ...

I have a similar problem with a Haicom 201S, I hav had it for about 3 years but since a few months it takes for ages to get a first fix, as if it was doing a factory cold start. TomTom shows a couple ...

OK, I've got it!

The Benelux maps are on 2 Cds, CD1 is the dutch names and CD2 is the French names. There is nothing that indicates this, so everyone installs CD1 and gets the Dutch names.

I always have trouble starting my Loox with TomTom. Always have to reset a few times, so I'll try this to see how it goes.

I think it is probably enough that the GPS is sending data. It doesnt ne ...

Even if you have all the maps on one card, you will still have to switch between Belgium and Germany, so you still cant plan the whole trip in one go.

My experience is that TTN takes far too long t ...

Most of the GPS mice seem to use about 130mA in operation, so they would drain a 40 Amp/hour car battery completely in about 10 days.

In practice, with help from the car alarm, they would probably ...

It sounds like the backup battery in the GPS is dying or loose. Old batteries usually work better when they are warm.

If it is not a sealed unit, I would be tempted to open it up and clean it or t ...
