Not sure how this has happened but the volume of the spoken alerts is stuck on 100% and the nice lady keeps shouting at me!

I agree that ICS is likely to be minimum flavour of Android required but I also think it will be the biggest mistake.
I think this confirms that Gingerbread IS supported.
