Oh and I did indeed scan them with Storage Tools and format them fresh before putting the map on. Barely made a difference 
Have installed the SD card fix and it's currently plotting the trouble ... |

Both cards specifically state 'Made in Japan' on them, but I wasn't aware of the SD card update. Thanks Clivers - will download now and see what happens. Forums like this really are invaluable!
