Mike, I believe you are talking about so-called long term ephemeris. They can speed up the first fix, but are useless for satellite search.

Am I right, that TomTom does not use SiRF anymore?

I think that some of TT models use Broadcom Chips now.

yes, Broadcom acquired Global Locate two years ago

Today I bought tomtom one N14644 etc (Canada 310 on the bottom, exactly as Pocketgps described) and it indeed resembles v4 but it is not equipped with Bluetooth and CD card.
