Ok, got it working now. :D :D
I set the speed alert to 10 km/h instead of 0 km/h and it goes off repeatidly until you are past the camera.

The images work fine, just converted the BMP to have 4 colours and worked like a charm.

Ok, I figured it out (and it was in the Garmin FAQ )
BMP needs to be 16 or 32 bit colour. I was using 2 colour B&W.

1. Switch the unit on
2. Select "Where to?"
3. Select "My Locations"
4. Select "Custom POIs"
You should see first 50 POI's listed. If not then they have not been loaded onto the device.

Not so. I have the Nuvi 300 configured with 211 POI's for speed cameras with a 250 m proximity alert and it works both in "free roaming" mode and ... |
