PostForum: Satmap Active 10   Posted: Sat May 06, 2017 8:08 pm   Subject: New Technology with Satmap 20?
I have also had an Active 10 since 2009 and usede it to complete the Pennine Way, and still find it useful, but the antiquated technology with Satsync has become a problem needing a complete overhaul. ...

Well, started trying to use the A10, but after the upgrade it is taking a long time to locate satellites. It took about ten minutes the first time. Trying again a few miles from home and it is still ...

I have found that my A10 usually over-measures walk distances by 5-8%, thus a 10 mile walk reads nearer 11 miles. Other walkers with different GPSs on the same trail tend to do the same, so our mileag ...

The Active 12 is in the Cotswold Outdoor autumn/winter 2013 catalogue just got in post.

As seen elsewhere it has all orange buttons. The new barometric altimeter is described as exceptionally accur ...

If Satmap can fix the several well known issues mentioned on this forum I don't see any reason for the unit not to stay much the same. I am satisfied with the A10 for the job I need. Radical changes, ...

That is a good price for Energiser 2500. I have been using their 2650 recently (around £8.50 / 4 pack) and find them ideal for use with my Active 10.

A fully-charged 2500 set would be plenty for a ...

Lol
Satmap won't be going down the touch screen road for obvious reasons.

Thank goodness for that!
Hope there will always be a button version. It works very well for me, so please continue to ref ...

I don't think that sat lock is retained if you have hibernate on and then remove the batteries and replace them. Hibernate only works when batteries are kept in the unit is my experience.

Yes, I'm ...

I have used 3xAA rechargable batteries from the start when I got my Active10 about four years ago. I have used Energiser batteries but have not tried others. During my time with the GPS batteries have ...

I have just recalled a one off incident when the A10 sat lock was lost. Out on the fells on a dull day everything was logging fine until an aircraft went overhead. It was above the low cloud layer so ...

Soon after I started using my ProShield the sat lock would occasionally become lost. I suspected the signal would be weaker with the extra barrier of this heavy duty case and removed it, since which t ...

I found it a bit fiddly to fit the shield, but seems to make a good seal eventually. The down side is having to remove it for cards and batteries. This is every day walk for me since I do up to 18 mil ...
