Do you reckon I could cut down my 3 data SIM and use that?
Yes, I did this to my 3 data sim last night and it's been working perfectly.
Turn the iPad off, slide the cut down sim into the iPad.

OK, to answer my question in case anyone else needs the same info:
The Garmin nuvi 3xx ,6xx and 7xx or the Zumo all have mute pins and audio out pins. |

Nice idea but it wouldn't work as it would pick up music from the speakers and continuously mute.
Oh well, looks like i'll have to get another TTG classic. |

Yes, the muting is a function of the radio but it is controlled by the sat nav. A wire is connected between the 2 respective pins and just before the sat nav issues a command it grounds the wire causi ... |

I did post a similar post in the Tomtom section but thought I would throw it open to a wider field.
Previous aging sat nav was wired into the car stereo so it muted and played through the car speak ... |
