I'm unclear - is it just new hardware that's affected, or does this statement imply that as/when the software on my Go520 is updated, I will lose the audible warnings ?

A very sensible suggestion but not one I can see being undertaken due to cost, its far cheaper to deploy a camera than deal with the true root cause of an accident black spot,

What is the exact number and name of the map it is offering you as it might be possible to fool the Home software into thinking the map is already on your PC thus preventing it from trying to download ...

In your part of the world maybe it is inaccurate as you say so it is not of much use.

I found it to be very accurate in the south of the UK & very accurate while driving almost the whole length ...
