It's working fine now 
With the unit switched off, I ejected and then inserted the memory card. When I powered it back on, it went straight into "connected to PC" mode, and my PC detected it ... |

| I agree, it's a reasonably pretty GUI that doesn't do much except give buggy updates that increase upsell. But keep in mind, we're all pretty advanced here. Most users go about their daily business ... |

| Yes, very be careful when using a different adapter. I've done stuff like that before and it works for a while, until that extra .5 volts melts the wires or something worse. |
