|
|
My Tom Tom One XL has the standard 2GB SD Card fitted. Whan I try to install map updates it now tells me there is insufficent space on my SD Card for the updates. Can I fit a bigger card - say 4GB?
If not, are there any files I can delete without damaging its functionality?
Thanks

If you can still find a non-SDHC 4GB card then yes, otherwise (and unofficially) you would need to update your bootloader file but obviously this can't be discussed here. Suggest you google "update tomtom bootloader" to enable your device to read the larger SDHC cards up to 16GB or even 32Gb
Plan b) would be to let TTHome download "zoned" portions of some of the larger maps produced for exactly this situation |

If it is the original One XL [sd card only memory] then 2Gb was the maximum stated memory size. But there have been a few versions of the One XL. _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]

I think it was expected that you could only get a non-SDHC card up to 2GB for all/any of these old devices but they did start making 4GB too until someone worked out how to create an SDHC version |

Thanks everyone for the advice - I managed to find a 4Gb non HC SD card on EBay (about £6.00 including postage) and it has solved my problem. I have been able to update my card with the latest maps and POIs.
It should last me until the device 'dies' on me.
