I'm probably missing something easy but I thought i'd ask you guys if you can help.

I'm traveling across europe in a few weeks. Normally I prepare a manual plan with the key rest reas and fuel stops. The problem with a paper list at is that it can be difficult to calcualte how far from my present posion the stop really is.

I'm travelling across 3 different maps UK, France, Belgium, Germany. What would be useful is to easily identify the next rest area or fuel stop, on the route that I am travelling, and get a miles to go reading to that or later stops. i.e. stop1 5 miles , stop2 25 miles, stop3 50 miles etc.....

So I'm trying to get into my head what my options are with TT3 (see my set up detailed below). As most rest areas are POI's can they be used? I certainly want to avoid using any of the minor menus on the journey and ideally access it through the navigator program.

Any ideas?

Have you tried using the itinery feature? You could include all of your rest stops in the itinery. If you go to the advanced tab in properties and enable "multiple destinations" in the itinery section, then all of the ETA and distances to destination will be to the next point in the itinery.

Alternatively, you could create a new POI group that contains all of your stopovers. Then whilst navigating you could tap the "Find..." icon, select "Point of interest" then tap the POI that contains your rest-stops (you can set this to appear as default icon on the POI quick-menu in properties) and a list of you rest-stops and distances will appear.

Thumbs Up

I should add that if you use the 2nd method (Find POI), the distances displayed will be "as the crow flies" and not the distance to drive.

I did something similar travelling through France and Switzerland. You can plan the journey before you go using something like ViaMichelin, and set up the itinerary and store it, then load it for the journey. I ran into problems with MRE, as the roads dissapear if you move off of the major route (deviations etc.) and it can't re-route you because the roads are not there.

So I now switch maps as soon after the borders as possible, and have duplicated the Itinerary for MRE and each country for flexibility. I also had a problem with one driveby cos I put it on the wrong side of the dual carriageway. It tried to take me to the next junction and send me back the way I came!! So be careful to check the route before you go.

It worked really well, I was impressed! Thumbs Up
