Hi
Can anyone let me know if I use the French maps (going on a touring holiday of France) with my TomTom2 UK setup, does it work OK. I mean driving on the wrong side of the road and going the wrong way round roundabouts etc Mr. Green
Any other help / tips re using in France would be appreciated
regards

Yes it works fine - I have used it on several French trips. All the instructions are appropriate for right side of road driving. As with the UK there are a few mapping issues - new(ish) roads and junctions not on and the odd occasion where you are directed the wrong way up a one way street, but provided you keep alert, it works very well.

I can confirm what others say. Stay awake and you'll be fine.

I have found both TT2 and TT3 excellent. Usually the only problems occur when they decide to dig the road up, and you get a "Deviation". Never seen such poor signposting as in France. TT found me another route through though. The only other issue I found is that if you are driving long distances, the journey calculation times are bigger, because there are so many roads to look at, and the database is quite large.

Thanks for the info, I wanted to make sure all would be OK as I will load the French maps Here in UK ( I don't have room for both UK and F maps) and will not be taking laptop so I would be stuffed if it went wrong when in France.

Proview,

Check out the following thread [TomTom 2 maps of france] further back in the list of postings Thumbs Up

Sorry I could not give you a link to the thread but it is there if you look back at the previous pages in the forum.

Good luck and let us know if you hit any problems. I am still weighing up the pros & cons before I decide to upgrade my TTN2 to TTN3 before I go to France later in the year. If I am going to hit problems I would rather have them with a system I was fully conversant with than a new one where I might be the problem and not necessarily the system I am using. Confused
