Been updating my TT 750 Live today and read with interest about the "Danger Areas" download which apparently you can use legally whilst driving in France. I appreciate it has been illegal to use the speed camera database since Jan 2012 but would be interested to hear from anyone who can advise me if my device is compatable and how I would go about installing the Danger Area download.
Thankyou. |

Thanks for reply, but not a lot really. I couldn't really find an answer when I searched. |

Presumably you are specifically asking about the TomTom Danger areas? PGPSW do not have danger areas, only camera locations. |

Yes, appreciate that, I have always used the PGPSW database for cameras and still do, however with the French ones no longer allowed on my device, I wondered about the Tom Tom Danger Areas which are mentioned and hence my enquiry. When I connect to home as I did yesterday and updated map there is no mention of these "Danger Areas". |

French Danger Zones are TomTom's cameras, but now reported as even more vague zones instead of precise locations. Frankly, whether as camera locations, or as zones, they are inaccurate, to put it kindly.
They downloaded to my Europe map just as they do to my UK/ROI map, so I can't give you any hints on how to get them.
But for information, last September, we toured Europe and had TT database loaded on my GO550 Live and PGPSW CamerAlert on my iPhone. The TT data was awful, PGPSW very good. Yes, I naughtily ran French cameras by PGPSW in France and had a fullscreen speedometer ready to switch to in case of passing police cars. I never needed it though. _________________ Dennis

Last time I was in France, I found that my satnav discovered a large number of "Wayside Chapels and Shrines" as I drove along….. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

I wouldn't get too wound up over this. It is a typical bit of French legislation in that the police can't just check your satnav to see if you have camera information. They have to have a good reason. Not only that, it makes a mockery of the whole thing with Michelin and co calling them hazardous areas. I think the Gendarmes have better things to worry about! |

Thanks for all the replies, much appreciated, I thought that maybe the Danger Zones info may be useful now we cannot have French Cameras on our TTs. When it was ok I did have them installed and to be honest found many that were not on the PGPSW database. I reported as many as I could on my return. I am not a speed merchant but I feel any indication of Black Spots is a good idea especially when in unfamiliar surroundings. |

The reason you might nnot be seeing them when you connect to HOME, is that they are still a part of the Speed Camera subscription.
So if you're not subscribed to them, you won't see the Danger Zones available for download. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Thanks Andy, using TT home I went into speed cameras and it gave the option under two small downloads to download the French Danger Zones.
I have done that and will wait and see what happens over the channel. |
