The screen now has a single diagonal crack across it. The unit starts-up fully displaying all the normal images, but doesn't respond to touch.

I'm a competent hands-on electronics engineer and have in the past repaired satnavs (amongst many things!).
But it would be most helpful if somebody could advise which particular parts will need to be replaced to restore my unit to normal service.

And possible sources for those parts would be appreciated.

Thanks

Roy

If the screen display is OK you need a replacement digitiser.

Easily obtained such as here - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251272500897?lpid=54&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=54&ff19=0

There will be many instructions on the internet - this was on the sellers listing - http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=J2ErPO_tjSI

There is a real possibility of breaking the device but nothing ventured nothing gained!

Places on eBay will sell you JUST the screen itself, JUST the digitiser (the touch screen bit), or the two combined.

If you buy the two combined, it's a ten minute job to open the case, disconnect the whole screen assembly with one plug-in ribbon cable and replace it with the new one.

But if you only buy just one part, you will need to get involved in slicing the two halves of the sandwich apart with scalpels etc gluing them back together and soldering flexi-cables.

It's entirely possible to do, but given the price difference I don't think it's worth the extra hassle (speaking as a half-decent electronics engineer myself)
