pocketgpsworld.com
Three speed cameras in North Wales have been set alight in a series of attacks by an arsonist.

Car tyres and rubbish were used to start the fires in all three incidents and North Wales Police are assuming the attacks are linked.

A police spokesman commented: "The cameras are there to ensure the safety of motorists, cyclists and pedestrians and deliberate attempts to damage them will not be tolerated."

The local fire service arson reduction manager added that such incidents put extra pressure on fire and services placing crews and the public at risk.

What does "The local fire service arson reduction manager" do? Go round shouting "Oh Yeah, Oh Yeah, please stop setting fire to things". Confused

"Work closely with partners to help build stronger more sustainable communities"

So, what does that mean, and how do they (and their partners) do it.
How is it measured, who has decided the parameters to be measured, and what is the time frame to achieve it, or does it run for ever and a day?

Typical company 'crap talk', tens of thousands of people up and down the country paid millions of pounds doing nothing jobs (private and public) and costing the tax payer a fortune.

M8TJT already told us - gobbledygook. That's one of the phrases to use in the write-up that gets ISO 9001 certification so that you can get a flagpole outside and a flag saying Investor in People. Lot of carp.

Not so much in the private sector. Private companies don't have a bottomless pit of taxpayer's money to squander on that sort of thing. They usually set SMART objectives (which means "Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-bound") I see nothing of that in that load of gobldygook. If an objective isn't SMART it's probably not worth setting as it may not be measurable (I suppose a reduction in arson attacks IS measurable, but might just be regression to the norm); might not be attainable (thus not worth trying) and just how long should one try to do the unattainable before stopping spending even more money then eventually giving up? Private sector uses the theory that unless it makes a profit (or is a sprat to catch a very large mackerel)then don't do it.

having worked in both public & private organisations - some of the private ones seem to have the objective of replicating the public ones. Though I never thought I see better (as in worse) than the companies the government hired to out-source work.

Yes, but they are paid from the bottomless pit of taxpayer's money. I was talking about proper commercial companies that make stuff and then sell it in a free market, not your service companies working for the government or local authorities or your local favourite quango or your private companies that have a captive market such as utilities etc.

Or indeed the Local Govt services which have been let out to private, simply by telling all the staff they now work for a private company - same job, same people, different company name. It means the council have fewer employees and they can say they have slimmed down the payroll. Quietly omitting to say they now pay more for the same services, but not as wages, as invoices.

Investors in People. Nice flag.

I haven't worked in a government related industry since I left HMG employ over a decade ago. I am currently in working for a company in FTSE 100 that actually makes and sells things.

Believe me these companies can waste just as much money as and time as the government does. You'd think they'd have less time for slackers/incompetents, but believe they exist in such companies. You'd think it would small companies would be more proactive in ensuring quality staff – but from my experience it is amazing how some of them manage to stay solvent. I have seen a company that only found out they were loosing money when they got a different accounts person in.

Though generally companies do keep a tighter reign on the purse strings, they are just as capable of wasting millions on useless purchases (I am currently watching a disastrous software purchase and one not as quite as bad) - but if you want to see the real place money is wasted – just look at the mergers and purchases of other companies – the disaster that was Time Warner and AOL merger springs to mind as being the worst, but there are plenty of others that gave negative benefit to shareholders.

Or in my company, buy a software system that is so user unfriendly that they have to spend extra millions to support the company processes -(or in plain language, 'spend extra millions to fix the bugs'). Whats worse, trial it in one part of the company and have the same disaster rolling it out to the rest of the company.

There really must be a good course on that sort of thing - I have seen so many systems miss by so such a huge margin that they really must know what they are trying to miss
