Garmin traffic alert

Hi all as a former trafficmaster user who was greatly upset when they switched off the oracle and freeway receivers i saw the advert for the new Garmin with lifetime traffic alerts and wondered if anyone has tried this out and if it works well. I was thinking of ditching my old tom tom if it does so would appreciate all comments on this subject before buying
