|
|
I after a combined car power adaptor for both my Fortuna CO bluetooth and iPAQ 2210.
The Fortuna comes with a USB power \charging lead and the iPAQ has a single point curly cable.
I'd like ideally to be a straight cable type, not curly, and be able to charge both the Fortuna CO and the iPAQ at the same time. When in use both these consume power at an alarming rate, certainly for the ipaq only 3 or 4 hours use.
Any ideas? _________________ Fraserp

I do not know what power input Fortuna has but I took a look at the pictures of the Firtuna review on this site and it looks like that it has a standard "universal 4.0/1.7 socket.
Do you have the little DC adapter that came with your Ipaq? If you have try the Fortuna power lead and see if it fits. I am almost sure it does looking at the review pictures. It looks like it has car USB adapter and a USB power cable, just like the usual set we provide.
If it does then you can use the Fortuna power lead to power both the GPS and your Ipaq with the addition of a DC power splitter from here:

Scroll to the bottom and look for PPY2.
It costs $7.50 + p/p. _________________ Pc-Mobile

Having said that, as they do not need to be connected together, can you not just power one, and then the other? Just use the Fortuna power lead, it should work with the Ipaq too. They both have 5v input. _________________ Pc-Mobile

Many thanks for the info.
I do a lot of driving and would like a setup that doesn't require 10 minutes each end of the journey to connect \disconnect\ hide cables from the scum bags etc.... just unplug and remove the equipment. To that end, the original intention was to use one cig charging point and have two powered points off it. The problem is that I already have 2 other devices that require cig power attachments, a phone and a Origin B2 (GPS speed camera system). Already too many wires!
I now decided a different set up. I'm getting a Brodit hardwired for the iPAQ. And I'm going to hard wire the Origin B2, just use the cig lighter for the occassional phone charge.
The final setup, yet to be decided, is the Fortuna CO. I'd like it to have a straight power lead, no data, that could be also hard wired. I'm not a cable guru, as you can tell, but the end of the power lead supplied with the FCO has a yellow end to it. I intend having it set close to the GPS position so it can be used as required. Is there a cable and appropriate connector like this available? Maybe with a protective cover (or am I getting too creative now)
Also are there friendly auto electricians in the UK, south manchester area, who can take pity on a now very poor iPAQ owner and do a deal on an wiring job?
Thanks again for the advice. _________________ Fraserp

You should have the very cable you need !
But I was looking at the pictures of the FCO review on this site.
You should have a car USB adapter with a straight USB charge cble (the one with yellow tip),a
Can you not use it? OR you have got an different one? _________________ Pc-Mobile

The one provided has a USB one end and two yellow tipped connectors off it. Do these have a spefis type name?
I'd like to keep the original cable for my home and get a new cable for the car. Can you point me in the right direction cable type and spec? _________________ Fraserp

Ah... is see... a PPY2
That would have been correct when I needed a dual supply. What cable would it be for a single type connector rather than the 'Y' type? I now only need one connection for the BT GPS. _________________ Fraserp

CKUC = CK203 (car USB adapter) + PUC2 (USB charge cable with 4.0/1.7 plug).
It should be the same as (similar to) the ones you have with you FCO. _________________ Pc-Mobile
