I am planning to travel in Europe shortly and I believe in some countries that GPS based speed camera warnings are not permitted.

If this is the case it would be appreciated if there was some way of temporarily disabling the database.

Ay guidance would be appreciated. Can anyone help please?

On the Garmin website you will find instructions

Quote:
To enable or disable the safety camera alerts on most nuvi and zumo models, please follow these steps:

Touch Tools (Note: Some units do not require this step.)
Touch Settings
Touch Proximity Points
Touch Alerts
The Garmin Safety Cameras should be displayed on your device in this location, allowing you to disable or enable the alerts.

For PGPSW database - I would download the european database and ensure you do not select France and Switzerland which are seperate options when you select the database to download

France & Switzerland
Using a speed camera database like ours in Switzerland is illegal. As such the data is available as an option with the European database.

As of 5th January 2012 'Speed Cameras Warnings' are illegal in France. However, 'Warnings for Dangerous Zones' are legal. The French data is available as an option in the European database. Unfortuntely until manufacturers open up the 'warning zones' to 3rd parties we cannot comply with the French law as we only provide set points. Use of the French data is at your own risk.
