Hi,

I've been a TomTom user since the Navigator v2/v3 on a PocketPC days and for a number of years now i'm using a TomTom Go 520.

I am however looking for a new unit as:
- I'm aware the maps are getting old on the 520.
- My wife could do with one in her car and the 520 would be great for that.
- I am going to France soon and need one with one with Europe maps.

I got an e-mail advertising this Via Live 120 - and with a £10 discount voucher, making it £105 incl vat:

TomTom VIA LIVE 120 EU, 1 yr free LIVE service & carry case:
http://www.totalpda.co.uk/TomTom/TomTom-via-live-120-eu-refurbished-gps.9764.html

It's a refurb, but comes with a year's warranty so hopefully would be ok.

I've also looked at the Start 25, which has a bigger screen, sd card slot and is around the same price (£10 more with the discount voucher on the above and doesn't come with a case):
http://www.totalpda.co.uk/TomTom/TomTom-start-25-gps.9158.html

Which would people recommend? - the Via 120, Start 25, or is there another in the same price range?

I'm currently leaning towards paying the extra £10 for the Start 25 with the bigger screen and SD card slot, but am wondering why the full price of the VIA 120 is a lot more...is it better in some way?

Would value any advice from those in the know.

Thanks,

Ian

Its the live services (which are not on the start or new vias currently) that makes the price difference (1 year FOC on a new unit)

If you want a new unit and live services (HD Traffic) try http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_842991_langId_-1_categoryId_165685

or the Go 1000 end of line at http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_788553_langId_-1_categoryId_165685

If larger screen but no HD would be good, this is a great unit and now at a great price http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_891869_langId_-1_categoryId_165685

Hi,

Thanks for that.

I was just looking at that Curry's offer actually, but there is no local stock...

Your link to the Start 60 led me to find this though:
http://goo.gl/xy3uj

There is a 15% discount code which takes it down to £118 which is the same price as the Start 25.

Obviously that has no live, but looks like a good deal for a new unit.

Thanks,

Ian

Have a look for the Go-750 Live at Comet/ Curries as they have been clearing stock for about £90 which is a real bargain, the 750 covers full Europe and you get the Live services for 12 months. This is from the TomTom stable when the produced devices that could be worked with unlike the newer crap introduced with the release of the Go-1000 and subsequent Nav 3 models.

If you do go for the 750 treat it to a 4GB Class 6 (or higher) MicroSD card otherwise you will have to load a zonal map when you use the latest map guarantee - Mike
