Click on the big "CamerAlert Database - Download here" link at the top right of this (and every) page.
Right at the very bottom is a section headed "What camera database categories do I need?" - that gives you an idea of the different ways the database can be put together in your personal download. For TomToms the choice is "Consolidated by type" or "full speed-zoned".
Which you choose is up to you, they both contain ALL the cameras, but if you opt for the "consolidated" version it's quicker to set up, but you don't get warnings for individual speed limits only the camera type.
If you opt for the "speed-zoned" version you get warnings for camera type AND the speed limit. That's the best, but it does take more time to initially set up all the warnings.
I'm not sure how much of that page you get to see BEFORE you've subscribed, but once you have, near the top of the page is a set of options boxes, where you choose:
1. Sat nav system - Choose TomTom ov2
2. Tick or untick the "Include pMobile Files" box depending on whether you want these un-verified extras - (a description of what the "pMobiles" are is on the right).
3. Camera selections - choose "UK- Consolidated by type" or "UK - Speed-zoned complete" as per your preference.
4. Select one of the optional voice warnings packs - Male or female, with or without a chime at the front. (There are also some samples of those to listen to in a box to the right).
Once you have downloaded the personalised "pack" of files, follow the instructions here to get them unzipped, installed onto the TomTom and all the warnings set up.
Be prepared for it to take ten or fifteen minutes of button pressing to get all the warnings set up one by one. Thankfully you should only need to do that once.
When you want to update the data (it is updated every week on a Wednesday), all you need to do is replace the .ov2 data files with the fresh set, all the other files (icons and voices) can stay the same.
Any questions just ask.... _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |
