Well this has certainly been a ride of peaks & troughs. Today I received this from TT...
"I would like to inform you that currently we do not have London Congestion zone facility.

Thank you for your suggestions. Customers like you always help us to improve our product. I have forwarded your valuable feedback to our concern department. They may update this information. We take our customer’s feedback very seriously. However, we do not know the exact time frame."

So how do you know exactly where the LCZ begins?

What exactly is the issue? The LCZ is treated as a set of Toll Roads on my
740 and iPhone app with the option to avoid. Is this not so on the Via135??

LCZ POIs are available from PGPSW.

If you post the question you asked TomTom their response might make a bit more sense to me.

But Paul's point was that you shouldn't NEED those POIs.

Our confusion with your post (and especially the quote from TomTom!) is that just about every TomTom DOES handle the London Congestion Zone and does it pretty well!

If I plan a route that starts, ends or goes through the Congestion Zone, then I always get a warning about it on screen and an option to avoid the zone if possible.

Are you not seeing that?

And what was the question you asked TomTom which produced such a strange reply?

(Also, do be aware that the PGPSW LCZ POIs have not been updated since April 2007 and I think the zone has changed size at least once since then. In addition, a POI file can only log entry and exit points, the TomTom system covers the entire active zone as an AREA on the map).

OK, so a bit more investigation I have set a destination inside the LCZ, to be warned "Destination is on a toll road" but it has no option to avoid this.
I then set it for the middle of Vauxhall bridge to be warned the same thing.
I then dropped slightly away from the bridge & no warning.
I could see nothing on the maps to suggest a toll road.
However the quest is over, so now I'm off to delete the loads of unwanted POI's that TT stick on this as a "default".

Oh and my question to them in the first instance was "I'd like to know if the London Congestion zone is loaded..."

Thank you both for your feedback & assistance.

Have a look through the settings.

Check you have Toll Roads set to ASK.

If the destination is INSIDE the LCZ how could you ever avoid it?

Possible error that includes Vauxhall Bridge INSIDE the LCZ instead of just outside it. Submit a correction at the TomTom MapReporter website.

Because it routed you around the LCZ and so avoided the LCZ??? If so there would be no warning to give.

Can you avoid the LCZ when you are actually crossing Vauxhall bridge then? I think a U Turn would be frowned upon Very Happy

Just basing my comment on that of Andy's

Not actually around it as I was coming towards it from the SW.

Once again, many thanks for your comprehensive feedback, it's very helpful.

Many Thanks.

My question was based on ignorance. It seems, from what others have said, that the LCZ starts just the other side of the bridge. My question was that once you have started to cross the bridge, are you committed to the LCZ? If so it is reasonable to show the bridge within the LCZ if by crossing it you are committed.

Vauxhall Bridge Road is not in the LCZ.

This is a detail from the map of the removal of the Western Extension.

No matter which way you word the question Vauxhall Bridge is still NOT in the LCZ. You can travel in either direction on the bridge and not enter the LCZ. Have a look at the maps linked in this thread. It's simple once you see why.
