Please help, departing soon!

Hi there! New user with a question before I leave on a trip to Europe tomorrow (6/19!)). I'd have asked sooner but my GPS unit was a father's day gift for hiking in Utah where I live, not really for travel!

But I am going to Toulouse and Munich/Regensburg for two weeks and would like to take the unit if there would be any value in it. I understand that my Garmin Vista has a US basemap. I also understand that I should still be able to plot points around the towns I walk through to keep from getting *too* lost even if there isn't a map overlay necessarily (right?), if only a few miles from my hotels.

Since it's a little late to buy a MapSource CD for what I need, and I don't need to buy one for all of Europe, is there a location that I can buy specific Garmin maps for these areas? Or other downloadable solutions?

Best solution could be to take a taxi in these cities (rather expensive in Europe) and then a flight from Toulouse to Munchen.

Do you work in aeronautics industry?

Will you be using this in standalone mode or connected to a laptop or PDA?

If it's standalone then MapSource products are your only option and they only come in Europe wide packs either MetroGuide or Roads & Recreation, GPSW are a well respected stockist, see but again you can't download them so how you go about getting hold of a copy is rather a problem. You may find the software in an Airport Duty Free shop, otherwise the only option you have is to look out for a copy on your travels. Of course without a laptop to hand you won't be able to upload them anyway!
