|
|
I develop custom tracking solutions for courier companies and they now want to integrate their mobile signature capture solution running on XDA2s with the location system (currently using M110 GPS devices) as well as give drivers in-vehicle navigation
The easiest way seems to be to add a BT GPS with TomTom and then just create a small plug in that takes the NMEA data from TomTom and sends it off to our tracking servers, however I can't find any mention of an SDK on the TomTom website - does it exist for v3?
Tried to contact TomTom through MyTomTom but I can't find anywhere to ask a new question (though it was very early this morning!)
Thanks. |

Yes, they do, and it can be used to do exactly what you're outlining. You should find a TomTom SDK for sale somewhere on their web site.

I managed to post a question to them and they said the v3 SDK will be out 'Summer 2004' (!)
Apparently the v2 SDK will work fine with the v3 TomTom, so I'll probably go ahead and order that.
Still waiting for upgrade info.
Anyone got any hints/gotchas I need to know about the TomTom SDK? |

Just don't expect any of it to work particularly well! The documentation is appalling, so a bit of experimentation will be required.
And don't think that, just because you've paid your $198 to enter into an exclusive club of TomTom developers, that they're going to give you any better support or anything... Their support people don't seem to understand that developers need different support from end users.
If you have problems, send me a PM and I may be able to help.
