The 1005 has the option to select favourites to be even more favourite. When choosing Navigate To/Favourite it shows these preferred ones e.g. Home, Work, Gym, etc. They are configurable and this is a great feature especially when I have 30+ favourites but only regularly use 3 or 4.

BUT.....

This only works if the option "Startup/Ask for a destination" is on. But this is annoying. I don't want to be asked a destination every time I switch the device on.
Is there another way of enabling this feature?

That's odd..
On my Go1000 I can set up "Favourite Destinations" (that's what TomTom call them), and as you say, they appear as a full screen menu whenever the device is switched on (if I have it set to "Startup / Ask for a destination").
But they DON'T appear if I go to "Navigate to..../ Favourite". In that situation, I just get the normal Favourites list.

So it seems to be working as I'd expect.

On my older TT if I wanted certain favs to be at top of list I use to prefix them with numbers

i.e.

1 fred
2 sam

Now this only really works as long as you don't store some favs with house numbers.

The x50 have a similar feature if you select 'Ask for a destination' in Start-Up Preferences, the only problem is the TomTom forgets where you're going if it's switched off and you have to select the destination again. This is ok on short journeys without a break but very annoying if you keep stopping. There should be an extra option Icon for 'Continue'

With Startup/Ask for destination enabled the 1005 asks me for the destination when I start it. I;m also asked whenever choosing Navigate To/Favourite. So a slightly different behaviour to the above. A tad strange.

I'd much prefer to be asked on Navigate To/Favourite and not when the unit starts. It seems to be one of those things!

It's the only niggle I've so far found with my 1005 so I can't really complain.

Don't think mine doesn't looses it's destination, as I turn it off regularly on long journeys

It depends which startup option your using - the normal one remembers where you're going when it's switched off but if you opt for ''Ask for a destination' the TT takes that quite literally & forgets where you're going when switched off. It is however much easier to choose from between about 10 user configurable destinations (Home; Work, Gym etc) - pity one of them can't be configured as 'Last Destination' then it would be almost the best of both worlds
