Hi all, wonder if anyone could help please?

I've just purchased an 825 and seem to be having issues with POIs.

I have uploaded about 6MB of POI data using the wonderful community content section. Prior to loading I have uk_mobile and uk_pmobile POIs working.

Now I can see all the POIs but not pmobile. I tried removing and adding pmobile, but it makes no difference. If I remove/add uk_mobile, it will disappear/appear in the manage POI list. As a little test I added a completely new POI, borders book shop. Community content shows it as loaded, but it doesn't appear in the list.

How odd!!! Have emailed tomtom tech support again (after the hoohar with the 3GB Europe map) but am awaiting a reply.

I thought maybe deleting all POIs and starting again would be good, but the only way seems to be to manually click remove on each single POI. With 100s this would take hours.

Does anyone know of a way to hard reset maybe?

Thanks in advance
James

How many POI categories do you have on the device? There is a maximum number that can be shown, although I don't know what it is for the 825. I think recent models allow around 250. If you have more than the max it seems to be random as to which ones won't appear.

You could try deleting categories that aren't vital to you one by one, checking each time to see if pmobiles are shown.

Thanks Anita, that makes sense. As I start deleting categories under A, more A's appear!! I've got hundreds of categories that I downloaded!!

Can't find a way to batch delete, so have used imacros for Firefox, which is running through them all to delete them.

I'll then be more choosy on which POIs I load!!

Thanks for the advice
James

But has it fixed your appear/disappear problem?

I think a lot of people might be interested in this technique, James!
Can you give some more details on how you do it?

Hmm... I can see how you could record a series of button presses in iMacros... but wouldn't you either have to click on all of the POI "Remove" buttons once in order to record the macro (in which case you haven't saved any time!) or if you can just click on ONE and then get iMacros to loop and repeat it, how does it know when you've run out of POI files to delete?

(This is a basic lack of understanding on my part of how the program works!)
