ive had my xl unit for around 2 years now, still going strong
my map is western + central europe 2g
my maps are ver 845 2645
what is the latest map for this model
also tomtom want around £70 to do the 12month updates
will i benefit a lot from that
i wondered if i could just get the uk + roi maps and only put my euro maps back on if i go abroad
also wondered if this model works with spoken street names

There are four updates a year and the version number goes up by 5 each time.

Only you can say...
Do you see a LOT of errors on the mapping as you drive around your normal routes?

Also, you'll often find that with TT's special deals, the update service is a similar price to just buying ONE map.
But the price you are quoted will vary depending on how old your existing map is. (The price is made up of two parts, one to get your current map up to the latest version and another to give you the rest of the maps for a year).

Yes, you can do that.
But the Europe map is probably better value if you are going to go there a lot. TomTom's prices for individual country maps are pretty steep!

They DID make a version of the XL with text to speech capability, but they never sold it in the UK.
It's probably beyond the scope of this forum to suggest ways to get it working....
