I iuse to use longitude and latitude when I had my TT. I now have a brand new Xtrail fitted with a great Sat Nav Clarion system.

When i try and key in the long and lats I appear to have too many digits, and when I press the change sign on the system it allows a lot more digits than I need. It is early days and I am still learning but I cannot understand why i do not seem to be able to just key in what I have and press ok. Sorry I have not explained this very well.

Sorry thought it was Clarion, but it is Hitachi. On the back of the manual is says Navi-U4

I will see if I can get any more info out of the system itself tomorrow. It is a Nissan Xtrail 61 reg car

It is Nissan Premium connect HDD system. I have just noticed you have a section for this, perhaps you could move it for me.

I have been out and tried again this morning, basically I have too many digits in the final digit section for the first option that comes up to use. When I press the change button there are too many spaces available and I have to key something in to these extra spaces to get it to move on.

When I key the digits into my old faithful TT it comes up with the exact location I want so the long / lat are ok.

Do you want to give us a clue as to how many digits you have when you have 'too many' and how many the unit is expecting when you hit the 'Change' button? Give us an example.
Does the 'Change button' switch between decimal degrees to Degrees Mins and Secs ?

As an ignoramus in these matters, I understood that the best a satnav can achieve these days is xx (5?) metres proximity and that any more decimal places than whatever gives that degree of accuracy are superfluous (so 55.12345 is as good as it gets?).

Thanks for feedback, seem to have resolved it. Looked at a website that gives Long/Lats for addresses and found that it gave more digits so have just keyed it in and all seems fine.

How many digits were necessary?
