It's a tickbox on the "Brightness settings" page of the Settings menu, sir. Smile

Older TomToms used to have a light sensor, so they could progressively turn down the brightness in stages and switch to night colours at a sensible time, depending on the conditions (even if you're in a tunnel).

However, the new models don't, and they depend on some "look-up" tables to decide what time to switch. There's no way to edit or even look at these time-tables, so I can't see how they can be as good in all situations.

e.g. an overcast day in Glasgow is going to be darker than a bright sunny day in the channel islands.

The Go-x40 range were the last devices to employ an active light sensor, the Go-x50 models also had a light sensor but the day/ night switch was software controlled based upon the look up tables even though the light sensor was fitted it wasn't used.

None of the newer models have a light sensor fitted - Mike
