whats the crack with HNR on my Go 540?

at the start I had HNR, I would be asked on planning to enter a house number etc... but with recent app updates - 9.058 on now - my maps no longer support HNR

what did I miss - such as on the latest 870 maps i'm offered 870.3406 which doesnt have HNR as an upgrade option, whereas i'm not offered 870.3405 which does have according the compatability charts....

why is this ?

Pardon my ignorance... What is HNR???

It SEEMS to be something to do with house numbers and is used in the "underground" community, but it's not a term I've seen used in more normal TT circles..

I have a 940 running v9.058 software and (almost) latest maps: Western_and_Central_Europe "Large" v865.3245 (2417 MB) - obtained direct from TomTom like normal.
That certainly still allows me to navigate to City/Street/House number, so what exactly are you not seeing?

Also, where are these compatibility charts please? They sound quite interesting if they are accurate, but I can't see them being terribly USEFUL unless they are for people obtaining maps through illicit routes.
Please don't bother to post a link if it *is* to a hacking site as it will get removed again straight away.

I thought that HNR stood for House Number Recognition. My original TT map used to ask for a house number when I entered a street address or give the option of either 'cross-road' or 'anywhere'. Since about a year ago my map updates which is now on version 870 no longer asks me for house numbers... so question is valid - has tomtom dropped HNR on certain models ?

Note - I was a beta tester for the first Live model Go 540 and my unit is not a retail release but an earlier production - but that's not stopped me subscribing to LIVE and getting the latest map downloads.

Also I just search google for "tom tom map compatability" and found lots of images of tables, I assume provided by Tom Tom, which show different map numbers for different devices suggesting that all maps are not created equal and some have feature sets that other updates do not.....

Sorry if i am being naive, but it's just a simple question.

hnr files are the defined routes (quick, short, economical, easy) - included in the PRIMO \ content \ map folder.

PRIMO uses the defined routes which speeds up processing route.

ONLY PRIMO use .hnr files.

House numbers have not been dropped. When you choose a destination street (either by navigating to "Street and House Number" or to "Postcode", after selecting the street you get either a line saying (roughly) "No house numbers available for this street" or you are asked for the house number.
